Introduction to Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang
Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang, located at the Yishun Park Hawker Centre, is a Muslim-owned stall famous for its Indonesian-style nasi lemak. It was recognized in the fourth edition of the MICHELIN Guide Singapore in 2021. With prices ranging from SGD 7.60 to SGD 8.90, this spot offers a unique dining experience featuring tender chicken pieces and crispy chicken wings that are simply irresistible.
Featured Dishes
The first dish I tried was the Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang (SGD 7.60). The plate included a piece of taliwang chicken, an egg, rice, ikan bilis, peanuts, cucumber, and sambal nasi lemak. The large piece of chicken was incredibly tender, easily falling apart with just a plastic fork. Its aromatic flavor was reminiscent of herb-infused chicken stew.
Although the chicken skin wasn't as crispy as I had hoped, its tenderness and flavor more than made up for it. The egg had a slightly runny yolk, and the sambal provided a sweet and mildly spicy kick, creating a harmonious balance in the dish. However, I found the nasi lemak rice to be a bit dry and less flavorful than I expected. But when paired with the sambal, it became much more appealing.
Jumbo Nasi Lemak Special
The next dish I sampled was the Nasi Lemak Jumbo (SGD 8.90), a generous serving featuring fried chicken wings, otah, egg, rice, sausage, fish cake, ikan bilis, peanuts, cucumber, and sambal nasi lemak. For those who struggle to choose ingredients for their nasi lemak, this is a fantastic option. The crispy skin of the chicken wings, combined with a hint of saltiness, made the dish truly special. The chicken was juicy and tender, providing a perfect contrast to the crispy skin.

The otah was soft with a mild spiciness that made it delightful, while the sausage and fish cake offered a simple yet effective addition. The variety of ingredients in the Nasi Lemak Jumbo didn’t overwhelm the dish; instead, each component contributed to an exciting taste experience.
