Departure from Doha to Bangkok

On the second leg of my birthday journey to the Golden Triangle, I flew in Qsuites business class on Qatar Airways' Boeing 777-300ER from Doha (DOH) to Bangkok (BKK), with a flight time of 6 hours and 35 minutes. This flight followed my arrival in Doha on a business class Airbus A350-1000 with the same airline.

While I generally prefer flying on the A350 over the 777, my experience on this 777 was equally delightful. From the seating and service to the food and drinks, as well as amenities like Starlink Wi-Fi and an exceptional entertainment system, everything contributed to a flawless experience for passengers.

How I Booked My Qatar Airways Business Class Ticket

I booked my entire journey on a single ticket. Specifically, I redeemed 95,000 Qatar Airways Avios and paid an additional $298.10 for the following flights:

• 4/14 QR778: From Miami to Doha, departing at 7:40 PM and arriving at 4:50 PM (+1 day).
• 4/16 QR836: From Doha to Bangkok, departing at 3:30 AM and arriving at 2:15 PM.

By utilizing rewards points and transfer bonuses, I secured a fantastic deal for this trip.

Lounges and Boarding Process

I had a long layover in Doha, but it didn’t bother me since I could work from anywhere, and I was pleased to turn the lounge into my "office" for an extended period. Although I can't provide an updated review of Qatar Airways' Al Mourjan lounge due to some restrictions during my visit, I’ve heard that services have returned to normal.

My flight departed from gate C31, which was quite a distance away—I was a bit surprised as I thought all flights would depart from a gate with a jet bridge. The boarding process began 45 minutes before departure, and business class passengers were invited to board via a private bus. There’s something thrilling about viewing the aircraft from beneath its wings, highlighting the impressive size of these planes.

Qsuites Business Class Cabin and Seating

I boarded the Boeing 777-300ER via the second door, where a few friendly flight attendants welcomed and guided me to my seat. This aircraft features 46 Qsuites business class seats arranged in two cabins. The seating layout is 1-2-1, allowing passengers to feel more comfortable and private.

I chose seat 8A, one of the window seats facing the rear. The seat is adjustable and has a private door, creating a secluded space for you. Unlike the A350, the 777 has overhead bins above the middle seats, which is why the cabin feels slightly less spacious, but there’s still ample room for storage.

Amenities and Services Onboard

Each seat comes with a foldable table, under-seat storage, and USB charging ports (no USB-C). The seat also has a side compartment that opens up for extra storage. Notably, the seat can convert into a double bed if you're traveling with someone special, creating intimate moments.

During the flight, the crew served delicious food and premium beverages, enhancing the business class experience. With a private space, I felt significantly more comfortable compared to regular flights.

Useful Information for Vietnamese Travelers

To fly with Qatar Airways, you will need to obtain a visa to enter Qatar unless you are a citizen of one of the visa-exempt countries. The flight time from Vietnam (SGN or HAN) to Doha typically ranges from 10 to 12 hours, with round-trip ticket prices in the low season around 15-20 million VND. To enter Thailand, you will need a visa unless you are a visa-exempt citizen, and the cost of a meal in Bangkok ranges from 150k to 300k VND, depending on where you choose to eat.
