My Royal Jordanian flight from Amman to Frankfurt on the Embraer E190-E2 offered some exciting moments but also left much to be desired in terms of service quality.
Overview of the Flight
On my journey to the Golden Triangle, I opted for a flight from Amman (AMM) to Frankfurt (FRA) on Royal Jordanian's Embraer E190-E2, lasting 4 hours and 30 minutes. This trip provided a mix of enjoyable experiences while also leaving me disappointed with the service quality.
Booking and Costs
I redeemed 75,000 AAdvantage miles and paid $80.40 for taxes to secure two flights: from Bangkok (BKK) to Amman (AMM) and then from Amman to Frankfurt. This is quite a reasonable price for business class service, especially if you book in advance.
Lounge and Boarding Process
At Amman airport, the Royal Jordanian Crown Lounge offered decent food and beverages, but the atmosphere and service didn't leave a lasting impression. A small highlight was the airport's stunning architectural design. Unfortunately, the boarding experience was marred by a delay caused by a broken glass door prior to boarding.
Business Class Cabin Design
The business class cabin on the Embraer E190-E2 did not meet my expectations. With 12 business class seats arranged in a 2-2 configuration, the layout failed to provide comfort, particularly for those seated by the window.
Seating Experience
I chose seat 3K, a window seat at the back row. However, accessing this seat was quite challenging, and I felt cramped navigating through a narrow space. The seat reclined but lacked sufficient width for true comfort. Notably, there was no in-flight entertainment system, just a small storage pocket.

Searching for Amenities
While the aircraft had AC power outlets between seats, the absence of USB ports for electronic devices was a significant drawback, making it difficult to charge devices during the long flight. The dining table was also inconvenient, lacking a comfortable space for a tablet.
Conclusion
When comparing to other flights, the quality of service is crucial for long journeys. Although the in-flight meal was somewhat acceptable, the overall experience did not meet my expectations. This may not be the ideal choice for passengers seeking comfort and amenities on long-haul flights.
Useful Information for Vietnamese Travelers
If you're planning to fly with Royal Jordanian, note that you can enter Jordan without a visa if your stay is less than 3 months. Flights from Vietnam to Amman usually involve a layover, and you can choose flights from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, with ticket prices ranging from 15 to 20 million VND depending on the booking time and class of service.
Consider your options carefully before selecting business class on long flights, especially if comfort is a priority.
